I’m not often a person who leaves Barbershops feeling good about my hair. However, my experience with Sheryl at the portage location completely changed that. She was incredibly thorough, kind, professional, and personable. She listened to my requests and made excellent suggestions ensuring I left feeling great about the service. Additionally, I’m not someone who typically buys any sort of hair product past shampoo and conditioner. But once again Sheryl was able to find me a spray tonic that was exactly what I needed. It’s always refreshing to find people who are able to take pride in and enjoy their work, and Sheryl is one of those people. If you are ever in the portage area and looking for a fantastic hairdresser, you will absolutely find one at the Tommy gun’s between the subway and sleep country on Portage Ave. 11/10 service, would absolutely recommend!

I was in on Saturday and was served by Alina and thought the service was absolutely wonderful. She was such a pleasure to deal with and gave me a great haircut. I was a walk up and they served me within three minutes on a Saturday afternoon which was pretty impressive. The place was clean. Staff was friendly. Service was great.

Wow! I will preface this review by saying I am 50 years old, and all my life I have either gone to regular hai Mr salons that tend to have a mostly female clientele or budget salons (ie Ultracuts) the last time I went to an actual barber was when I was maybe 5 years old. I have to say Tommy Gunns is AMAZING. The woman cutting my hair just knew how to do it. I didn’t have to give instructions or watch her like a hawk. It is obvious they specialize in men’s hair. I got a beard trim and wow. Perfect. I just love that I didn’t have to monitor every little thing she was doing. She just knew how to do men’s hair. In regular salons that are more accustomed to dealing with women’s cuts I had to watch every move they make with the clippers and scissors. At Tommy Gunns she even knew the amount of pomade to use and how to apply it properly. In a regular salon I always have to wash my hair when I get home because they always use too much pomade or paste and they always style it with spikey bangs like I’m some member of a boy band in the ‘90s. I will definitely go back to Tommy Gunns because they know men’s hair/beards. I’ve never had a haircut this good in my life, no exaggeration. I wish I knew the name of the woman who cut my hair because I would recommend her without hesitation. I probably won’t go back to this location simply because it’s pretty far away from my home. I was just in the area because I had a medical appointment nearby, but I will be visiting the Tommy Gibbs closer to where I live and I hope it’s just as good. If you are a man or boy, go to Tommy Gunns for your hair. Definitely worth it.
